In 2009, the HBA celebrated its 50th Anniversary.
On August 30, 1959, National Association of Home Builders President Carl Mitnick presented the HBA of Raleigh its charter at the Oc
ean Forest Hotel in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Those present included HBA President Jim Ashburn, HBA Secretary J. C. Jordan, HBA Treasurer Ralph Connell and NAHB Regional Vice President Bill James.
That original charter officially created the HBA on May 18, 1959. Since its early days, the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County has been the voice for builders and associates.
