About the Council
The HBA 50+ Housing Council, affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) 50+ Council, is the voice of the 50+ housing industry and a leading source of information and research on the active adult and independent living communities.

The Baby Boomer generation, those born between 1946 and 1964, is transitioning into retirement, reaching 100 million by 2012. Therefore, recognizing their influence and lifestyle preferences, 50+ Housing Council members hope to meet the expectations of this unique market segment by focusing on housing details that include design, accessibility, energy efficiency, technology, location, finance, ownership, management, and sales and marketing.

Mission of the 50+ Housing Council
The HBA/ NAHB 50+ Housing Council will serve as the voice of the 50+ housing industry and a leading source of information and research on the active adult and independent living communities. This council is centered on the Baby Boomer generation, those born between 1946 and 1964, and strives to meet the housing needs of these boomers, empty nesters, active adults, retirees, and older seniors who desire age-qualified active adult communities with particular amenities and options.

The council will provide members:
  • a collaborative forum for those interested in all aspects of active adult living, including universal and accessible design,
  • opportunities for education, networking, recognition, and
  • access to industry research and resources.
