2017 Habitat for Humanity Builder Blitz
Participate in the 2017 Habitat for Humanity Builder Blitz
If you want to be a part of something great and give back to your community, why not do it in a way that takes advantage of your special skills as a builder? |
As you may know, the Builder Blitz is when multiple Habitat for Humanity homes are built within the course of a week. This concept was originated right here in Wake County and has now become a global phenomenon. This year the HBA has offered to help locate builders in Wake County who want to be a part of this great achievement.
When will this take place? The 2017 Builder Blitz will take place during the week of June 5-9, 2017. But we need to identify builders right away. There is much work to be done.
Where will the homes be built? All homes will be built in the Neuse Ridge Neighborhood in East Raleigh.
Will I have to take on an entire home alone? No. While builders can certainly commit to a home, we are seeking builders who are willing to be a part of a builder team. If we can get 5 builders per house, then each builder will be responsible for providing the labor and materials for only one day of the build. This allows participating builders to share the costs, time and overall responsibility.
Are the materials and labor donated tax deductible? Absolutely.
What would my role be? Habitat for Humanity takes care of all the preliminary needs. Habitat will secure the lots, provide house plans, obtain permits, select homeowners, install a slab-on-grade and provide pre-fab walls. Habitat also has relationships with many national manufacturer and provides other things like paint, appliances and more. You role is to work with your team of builders, organize subs and suppliers and get the home built.
How else can I help? The Builder Blitz project needs money too. Sponsorships are available on many levels.
How do I join in? Just contact Paul Kane (pkane@hbawake.com) with the HBA and let him know you want to help.
