JOB SITE SAFETY
COVID-19 Job Site Safety
Home building and construction crews were encouraged to halt work for at least 10 minutes to educate employees about COVID-19-related jobsite safety protocols as part of a nationwide effort, initiated by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) on Thursday, April 16. The Stand Down Effort, organized separately by each company, emphasized worker safety and best practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, we encourage you to continue to hold frequent stand downs on your job sites and ensure that crews are taking the correct safety precautions. Use the tools below for assistance.
If you are a member who needs face coverings or hand sanitizer, please call the HBA office at 919-233-2033.

Construction Job Site Guidance for Coronavirus
The Construction Industry Safety Coalition (CISC) published guidance for construction employers, employees and contractors on coronavirus exposure prevention, preparedness and response. The guidance describes how to prevent worker exposure to coronavirus, protective measures to be taken on the job site, personal protective equipment and work practice controls to be used, cleaning and disinfecting procedures, and what to do if a worker becomes sick. The documents are specifically tailored to construction job sites.

On March 27, 2020, President Trump signed into law the CARES Act, which provided additional assistance for small business owners and non-profits, including the opportunity to get up to a $10,000 Advance on an Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL). SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan application process. Complete an application on the SBA website to qualify.
Wake County, Wake Forward, a program to assist small businesses.
Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act)
The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA or Act) requires certain employers to provide their
employees with paid sick leave and expanded family and medical leave for specified reasons related to COVID-19.
These provisions will apply from April 1, 2020 through December 31, 2020.
CFPB Provides Flexibility During COVID-19 Pandemic
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) today announced that it is providing needed flexibility to enable financial companies to work with customers in need as they respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. The CFPB will not expect quarterly information reporting by certain mortgage lenders as required under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Regulation C.

The HERS industry is being confronted with coping with trying to keep their staff safe while facing the economic pressures that are a result of the virus. RESNET staff will be working with the Rating community on determining creative ways that will allow us all to keep our employees safe while getting our business done.
Temporary Allowance for Remote Visual Verification for ENERGY STAR and Indoor airPLUS New Construction Programs through June 30, 2020
In coordination with policy from the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET) related to remote inspection of minimum-rated features, EPA is allowing for the visual verification of ENERGY STAR checklist items (and Indoor airPLUS checklist items, as applicable) to be performed remotely using audio/visual connections.
