Building & Inspections Departments
I reached back out today to all 13 Wake County local governments to see if they had any updates that I had not yet captured. I have updated below based on all that feedback.
Additionally, I know that there has been talk about a meeting between Governor Cooper and the Mayors to discuss steps moving forward. We are waiting on word from that if such a meeting is in fact taking place.
Remember that many of the local governments have closed down their physical buildings and are working entirely via online submittals, dropboxes and safe distance inspections. You should have seen in my email yesterday that a new guidance paper was put out Monday by NCDOI that provides some additional opportunity for live remote inspections. We foresee this as an avenue to continue business and encourage you to work with your inspector to make this successful! Please click here to read the guidance paper.
We continue to work with the local governments to see how quickly meetings can be moved to virtual/video meetings to allow government to continue along with the development projects already in the hopper. Currently, that is still a work in progress.
Hugely important to the industry is for it to be categorized as an essential service. We are working with NCHBA and NCDOI to see that this happens should the ratchet continue to tighten.
Don't forget to check out the local government(s) below in which you do business to learn their latest operational protocol during this COVID-19 pandemic.
Additionally, all of these emails will be posted to the website at the following link: https://www.hbawake.com/local-issue
Please feel free to share and also please send me any and all experiences you've encountered so that I can help disseminate information or work through issues. Thank you and stay safe.
