As we all start to settle into this new (yet temporary) normal, we are doing our best at the HBA to make sure you can conduct your business as close to "normal" as possible. We continue to be in contact with the local governments in Wake County to get updates.
Top on the list now is figuring out if and how council/commissioner meetings are going to be conducted, including the public hearings. We are not only concerned with the elected body meetings, but also the planning boards & commissions, boards of adjustment, etc. All of these impact our industry and are critical to the industry moving forward.
Please pass along any information to me that you hear on these fronts and I will continue to update you to the best of my ability.
Much of the information below is the same as yesterday, but please check out the local governments where you are currently doing business, as there are changes peppered throughout.
We have created a side by side comparison of the language for both orders to hopefully help you compare them. As stated by the Governor, there is no "proof" required that you are out and about for "essential business". However, many of you may be interested in creating a letter for your employees to keep with them (we are not creating a one size fits all template). If so, we recommend lifting the appropriate parts of the orders (see comparison sheet) and also make sure to put in the letter the address of the project your employees/subcontractors are traveling to and from.
We would also like to stress the importance of job site safety and sanitation. The National Association of Home Builders has created one page printables in both English and Spanish for you to easily print out and plaster around your job sites..and I mean plaster! We want you to show that every effort is being made to comply with the social distancing, hand washing/sanitizing, etc. so that it construction is not revoked as an essential business.
